Opera: Rossini's Cenerentola. Jacksonville Lyric Opera

Monday, March 8, 2010 7:30PM

Seating: $25 general $50 preferred
Marathon High School Auditorium
Mile Marker 50, Sombrero Beach Rd.

This is based on the story of Cinderella.  It is a comic opera that will be sung in English.
The music throughout is lovely and entertaining.  The final aria, Non Piu Meste, is one of the all
time show-stoppers of the opera world.

La Cenerentola,
(Cinderella, or Goodness Triumphant) is an operatic drama giocoso in two acts by
Gioachino Rossini, written when he was 25 years old.

The libretto was written by Jacopo Ferretti, based on the fairy tale Cinderella.

This opera, which Rossini completed in three weeks, is considered to have some
of his finest writing for solo voices and ensembles.

This is the Harriett Haller Key memorial concert.
